Coco’s story - She had to set an alarm this morning to make sure she got to the trail head when it was still cold. With her perimenopause and SSRI she was not taking, anything above 75 felt like she was living in hell.
Equipped with her one headphone in (she is a woman in the wilderness after all), she starts her Pacer app to log her steps and her favorite podcast, Armchair Expert. She especially likes the themed call in shows when people tell a story about whatever. It’s light and doesn’t require too much brain space.
Passing a group of birdwatchers, she now knows why the parking lot was already packed.
Today is going to be a good day. She did all of her hip stretches and really made sure to get her calves warmed up. The path is pretty much uphill, and those guys always cause her problems.
Trying to stay in the present of being in nature and experiencing all the sounds and colors, Coco has to fight against the thoughts of the rest of the day. She hopes there is still basil at the Farmer’s Market when she’s done here. It goes so well with the bread she will get and the fresh tomatoes a neighbor dropped off.
